We have made it through the first week of the 2025-2026 school year and our students could not have done a better job! We have had a fantastic week filled with picnic fun, learning expectations, and reuniting with school friends. There is nothing better than seeing all those happy faces back in the hallways after a long quite summer here in the building. Welcome back, everyone!
Thank You, PTO!
First we need to say a huge thank you to the PTO and all of our parent and community volunteers who joined us the first day for our annual Back to School Picnic! The kids got to enjoy lots of games and activities, treat, and bouncy houses all provided to us by the PTO. We are so grateful for such a supportive community at Ladd School.
Before and After Care
Both our Before Care and After Care programs will begin on Monday, August 25th. The two programs are run differently. Parents participating in one or both, please pay careful attention to the following.
Before Care is available to all students K-5. Before care will be provided in the gym each morning, starting at 7:00 and ending at 8:00 when students will transfer to breakfast in the cafeteria. Parents may sign up ahead of time, or may just bring their child when needed. Parents must bring their child in the North (Cafeteria) doors and must sign them in each day. A doorbell will be located outside the door to gain entrance to the building.
Before Care is $4.00 per child per day and a maximum charge of $8.00 per day per family. Parents will be billed on the 15th and the 30th of each month for days used.
Please note that students are not allowed on school property before 8:05 each day when supervision begins unless the child is attending Before Care. Children left unattended on school property before 8:05 will be sent to Before Care and parents will be billed accordingly.
After Care is available for students K-5 through the Youth Services Bureau. Parents wishing to use after care services must come to the office and pick up a registration packet. Registration information and deposit must be dropped off in the office before any children may attend after care.
2025-2026 New Staff
We are very lucky at Ladd School to have an amazing group of new staff this school year. Please join us in welcoming (left to right) Preschool paraprofessional Jan Benning, Second Grade paraprofessional Julie Sticka, Middle School Special Education Teacher Sara Smoode, Structured Self Contained Special Education Teacher Allanah Harper, and her paraprofessional Jeannine May. These ladies have already jumped right in with patience, positivity and caring. Our students and staff are very lucky to have them joining our Ladd School Family.
Dismissal Changes
We want to remind our parents that any changes to your child's normal dismissal routine must be communicated to the office by a parent, preferably in writing. In the absence of a parent communication all children will be dismissed according to their normal routines. This is a matter of student safety. Communication with parents directly ensures we are all on the same page and that students arrive home safely.
Next Week
Next week we begin our normal schedule with regular dismissals at 3:05 and Wednesday early dismissals at 2:00. Just a reminder, Friday, September 29th is a School Improvement Day with an 11:20 dismissal. There will be no afternoon preschool. There is no school on Monday, September 1st. School will resume Tuesday, September 2.
