Welcome Back, Ladd Students and Families
We are very excited to welcome you all back for the 2025-2026 school year! I hope you all enjoyed a wonderful and relaxing summer break. We have been working hard to have everything ready for our students and the start of an exciting new year....and yes, we do have air conditioning!
Below are a few important updates to make the start of the year run smoothly. If you have any questions, we encourage you to reach out to the office at 815-894-2363.
Back to School Night
Monday, August 18th is Back to School Night! We invite our students and families to join us from 5:00 to 6:30 to meet your teachers, see your classrooms, and drop off all of your school supplies. Join us and get settled in and familiar with your new classrooms so you are ready to go for the first day!
First Week Schedule
Students K-8 start back to school on Wednesday, August 20th. Arrival is 8:05-8:15. The school day begins at 8:20. Students dismiss at 2:00 for the first three days of school. Regular 3:05 dismissal will begin on Monday, August 25th.
Pick Up and Drop Off Procedures
We are very lucky to have new sidewalks being installed on East Cleveland Street, thanks to the efforts of the Village of Ladd and the Safe Routes to Schools Grant. Fortunately the bulk of the construction work has moved East of the school building. Our school pick-up and drop-off procedures will remain the same for the school year.
For families new to the district, when dropping off or picking up students, cars may enter the parking lot at the West entrance and follow the drop off lane through the parking lot. Please make note of these key safety procedures:
Staff members will assist students in exiting or loading the car. Please have students prepared to exit or enter the car on the passenger side. Parents are asked to remain in their vehicles.
Please observe all safety procedures regarding school busses when in the lot. Cars may not pull around a school bus when the stop sign and arm are extended and students are unloading.
When picking up students, please remain in your spot in the line of cars and do not pass other vehicles. Students will be stationed accordingly for pick up.
At no time should parents park and pick up or let students out of the vehicle in any spot other than the pick up and drop off lines. Students are safest when they are not walking through moving traffic.
Please be respectful of our neighbors and avoid blocking driveways when you are waiting in line to pick up or drop off.
If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to the office.
Free Lunch and Breakfast
Ladd School is fortunate to be able to provide free breakfast and lunch to all students starting this fall. Teachers will still take a lunch count each morning, but all students will eat free of charge. There will be no need to provide lunch money for any student unless purchasing extra milks.
As a reminder, students eating breakfast can arrive at the school at 8:00am and enter through the cafeteria doors. Students not eating breakfast may not be on school grounds until 8:05.
Before Care
Ladd School now has Before Care services available for students K-5. Parents interested in Before Care services may sign up in the district office. Before Care services will be available from 7:00 to 8:00 AM daily for a fee of $4 per day with a max of $8 per day per family. Students must be dropped off at the North Cafeteria entrance and signed in by an adult . Families will be billed bi-monthly for days used.
Before Care will begin on August 25th! More details will go to families once signed up.
Transportation Schedules
Families were provided tentative transportation schedules at in person registration on August 5th. Final pick up and drop off times will be available to families next week.
Students will only be allowed to be picked up or dropped off at their designated stop. If a student is to be dropped off anywhere other than their normal stop, the office must have a note in writing from a parent. We want to ensure that all students are accounted for and where they are supposed to be. Let's work together to keep our students safe.
District Calendar
The 2025-2026 District Calendar is always available at the top of our district website homepage. Updates and upcoming events will be shared weekly here.
Student Handbook
All of our school policies and procedures can be found in the 2025-2026 Student Handbook, also located on our homepage.
We hope you all enjoy your last weekend of summer! We can't wait to have you back in school starting next week! Welcome back!
