Happy New Year, Students and Families!

Welcome back to school, students and families! Hopefully, you were all healthy, safe, and relaxed over the winter break. We are so happy to have our students back in the building with us!

I want to remind all of our families that throughout the winter, all students will continue to go outside daily unless we have extreme conditions. All children gain physical, social, and cognitive benefits from outdoor play. We use the Child Weather Chart to determine when it is necessary to keep children indoors.

Whenever possible, we provide extra coats to students in need, however, we do not have the resources to give many students coats daily. Parents, please ensure that your child is coming to school with the appropriate outdoor gear.

Safety Concern

We are asking all our parents and community members to be mindful during pick-up and drop-off. Cars traveling East on East Cleveland must fully stop behind the stop sign and keep the cross walk clear to ensure our walking students can safely cross. If you are waiting to enter the lot to pick up or drop off a student, please stay behind the stop sign until there is room for your vehicle to fully enter the lot and clear the crosswalk. Thank you for prioritizing the safety of all students and staff.

School Store Fundraiser Kick-off

The School Store Fundraiser kicks off on Monday, January 13th. Students will bring home their lanyards with all the necessary information to get started. As in previous years, Book Buddy prizes will be available in the office for students who return with the code showing they completed their fundraiser sign-ups. Thank you for all your work to help with this fundraiser and to support the students at Ladd School!

Welcome Matt Wilhelm

Students will have a real treat on Monday afternoon! Ladd School will welcome Matt Wilhelm from America's Got Talent with his widely popular Anti-Bullying BMX Show! The assembly will focus on resilience, perseverance, positive self-talk, kindness, and more. We are very excited to welcome Matt Wilhelm to Ladd School!

Assessment Week

Next week is our mid-year assessment week. All students in grades K-8 will be assessed using Fastbridge in ELA and Math. The benchmark assessments are completed three times a year for all students and are essential for teachers to gauge progress toward mastery of grade-level standards. Talk to your students about their assessment goals this trimester and cheer them on as they get ready to show us what they can do!

Emergency Weather Plans

With winter weather upon us, it is a good time to remind families of the Emergency Weather Procedures for Ladd School. In the event of a school cancellation or late start due to weather, notices will be sent out through the district website, push notifications, Facebook, and the Ladd School App. If you do not have the school app, you can find information on our homepage. You can also get school cancellations through Shaw Media websites. Ladd School works to make these decisions as early as possible to ensure families are notified appropriately. Occasionally, the district may choose to use an E-Learning Day instead of an Emergency Day.
