School Closure Procedures

With a threat of severe weather, or building emergency, comes the risk of school closure. We understand that school closures can cause many disruptions for families and students, which is why we take each situation seriously. Our number one priority is keeping our students and staff safe. Below is a list of important information regarding our school closure procedures.

  • All school closure decisions are made in consultation with the National Weather Service, Johannes Bus Service Inc., surrounding districts, and other relevant community service organizations.
  • School closure information will be communicated through the district app, text message, Facebook, the district website, and local radio stations.
  • Parents will be notified of school closures with as much notice as possible with a given event.
  • Should an early dismissal be necessary due to an event arising during the school day, parents will be notified through the same platforms. If a parent cannot be reached to pick up the student, emergency contacts will be notified until the child is picked up. If you need to update the emergency contacts for your child, please call the school at 815-894-2363 or email cmthrasher@laddccsd94.com
  • When the decision can be made the day before closure, an E-Learning Day MAY be used.
  • During an E-Learning Day, teachers will communicate expectations and assignments to students and parents through the appropriate platform for their grade levels.
  • For complete information regarding E-Learning, please see our Ladd E-Learning Plan
  • As a reminder, in the absence of an E-Learning Day, up to 5 emergency days must be made up according to school code. These days are highlighted in dark grey on the district calendar. You can find the school calendar here.

If you have not already done so, please download the Ladd CCSD 94 app through the App Store or Google Play. It is the best way to ensure you are notified of all important school information.
